I have a full-time job. Can I still become a member?
Yes! Many of our volunteers hold regular full-time jobs.
We have volunteer activities available in the evenings and on weekends. We also have projects that take place during the day.
Why should I volunteer with the Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills versus other organizations?
Current volunteers speak of the meaningful impact they feel they have in the community and their ability to contribute in a structured, well-organized environment.
Volunteers also benefit from training in a variety of educational and leadership programs. And, our members also enjoy the opportunity to work with a diverse and talented group of women.
What kinds of women participate in your League?
We are most proud of our diversity. Our organization attracts women of differing racial, socio-economic and educational backgrounds. Our service area includes nine communities, and we draw members from many of those communities.
Must I know a current member in order to join?
No. It is hoped, however, that membership in JLOSH will lead to lasting friendships with other women that share an interest in community service.
How does the Junior League serve the community?
JLOSH serves the community through community projects, which are financed and staffed by League volunteers, and through involvement with community organizations and agencies in various capacities.
How large is JLOSH?
There are over 100 Active members and over 200 Sustainer members.
