What to do when

Pay Dues ($135 – Active, Provisional, $140, Sustainer $85, Emeritus, age 80+ no dues) – Send payment to Assistant Treasurer by March 1st.


Discuss personal circumstances, which make you unable to pay your dues (see Standing Rule V, Section 1, Paragraphs B and C) – Contact the Treasurer to speak with her confidentially, prior to Apri 1st.

Be reimbursed for a League-approved expense (see Standing Rule Article X) – Contact League Office Manager to obtain expense form and submit the form to your Committee Chair and Board Member for signatures, within 30 days of transaction.

Designate JLOSH to be the recipient of United Way funds – Contact your employer’s payroll manager. Use our United Way organization number, #007579.

Be excused from a General Membership Meeting (GMM) – Contact your advisor by 5 p.m. the day of the meeting.

Know if inclement weather has affected a scheduled GMM – Contact your advisor by 5 p.m. the day of the meeting.

Make an announcement at a GMM – Members must notify the President 48 hours prior to the meeting, in order to be placed on the agenda. 

Have information distributed at a GMM - Send your (approved) information, via e-mail (jlosh1913@aol.com), to the League’s Office Manager no less than 24 hours before the GMM for inclusion in the distribution packets. 

Recommend a person for the next Provisional Class – Contact the Provisional Chair as soon as possible.

Volunteer for a second placement – Contact your advisor, who will contact the MVP.

Propose a community project for the following year – Contact the Community Research Chair by November 1st.

Propose a fundraiser for the following year – Contact the Fundraising Director by December 1st.

Propose Public Affairs action – Contact the SPAC Chair anytime.

Make a proposal to the Board – Contact your Committee Chair by the 20th of each month for inclusion on the next Board agenda. Your Council Chair will determine the specific timetable.

Obtain historical records of any nature – Contact the League’s Recording Secretary.

Prepare public relations material to announce an upcoming League event – Contact your Committee Chair who will contact the Council Chair, Communications Director and the President six (6) weeks prior to the event or ASAP.

Have photos and summary of a League event published in the newspapers – Contact Communications Director who will obtain final approval from the President.

Submit material for publication in the New View – Contact your Committee Chair who will submit to the New View Chair by the 15th of every month.

Send a letter or send invitations to a person or organization outside the League – Contact your Committee Chair, at least two (2) weeks prior to distribution date, who must obtain final approval of content from the Council Chair, Communications Director and the President.

Obtain brochures for JLOSH, State Council or SPAC – Contact League Office Manager.

Bring attention to a problem concerning the League office and/or building – Contact the Recording Secretary immediately!

Reserve hotel rooms or rental cars using the Junior League discount – Contact AJLI (800-95-LEAGU) anytime.

Request a guest card for use in the NYC Junior League dining room – Contact Assistant MVP anytime; the card is good for one year from date issued.

Change your name, address, contact numbers or e-mail – Fill out the enclosed Change of Status Form and return via mail or fax to the League Building, Attn: Asst. MVP, as soon as possible. 

Make a status change (see Standing Rule IV, Section I, Paragraphs F-H) – Contact your advisor and Asst. MVP in writing using the enclosed Change of Status Form by April 1st.

Transfer without paying JLOSH dues for the following year – Contact your advisor and AMVP in writing using the Change of Status Form by April 1st. After April 1st, dues must be paid to JLOSH before paperwork can be processed.

Request that a particular community placement serve as your League placement for the following year (see Standing Rule IV, Section I, D) – Contact your advisor and MVP in writing by April 1st.
